Pretende-se com o presente projeto colmatar a morosidade e imprecisão existente na semântica de tradução, através do desenvolvimento de uma solução, que a partir da indexação de um conjunto incremental de palavras, que conjugarão um determinado sentido semântico, possibilite criar um processo de correspondência, entre o seu registo em língua nativa e a língua de tradução, para que a atividade de tradução resulte num processo relativamente instantâneo e preciso na semântica de tradução.

Este princípio de investigação parte do pressuposto de que o vocabulário usado num determinado tipo de obra/documento (e.g. documentação técnica) é relativamente limitável quanto ao estilo de linguagem e diversidade de palavras, o que potencia o maior efeito de instantaneidade e rigor do processo de tradução, através do processo de indexação desenvolvido/investigado.

O contributo da nova solução irá exercer mutações no dia-a-dia da sociedade, assumindo importância na vida coletiva e individual atual. A vantagem da sua difusão, contribuirá para simplificar processos (quer sejam administrativos, legais, etc.) e proporcionar a redução dos custos que lhe estão associados, contribuindo também para a agilização do relacionamento dos cidadãos e empresas. Desta forma espera-se que contribua para o bom funcionamento de distintos setores (serviços de informação; governos; grandes multinacionais; ONGs; etc.), de modo a reduzir o tempo de elaboração da tradução sem sacrificar a qualidade, permitindo:

1. Automatizar traduções de frases repetidas (seja no próprio texto ou em anteriores);
2. Sugerir traduções de frases semelhantes;
3. Permitir a busca imediata na memória de tradução;
4. Permitir criar ficheiros de terminologia integrados com a tradução;
5. Permitir gerir uma memória de tradução com recursos externos;
6. Facilitar a colocação do texto da tradução no ficheiro final;
7. Redobrar a segurança informática do texto traduzido.

The aim of this project is to overcome the slowness and inaccuracy existing in translation semantics, through the development of a solution, which, based on the indexing of an incremental set of words, which will combine a certain semantic meaning, makes it possible to create a correspondence process, between its registration in the native language and the language of translation, so that the translation activity results in a relatively instantaneous and accurate process in the translation semantics.

This research principle is based on the assumption that the vocabulary used in a given type of work/document (ex: technical documentation) is relatively limited in terms of language style and word diversity, which enhances the greater speed and rigor of the translation process, through the developed/investigated indexing process.

The contribution of the new solution will bring about changes in the day-to-day life of society, assuming importance in current collective and individual life. The advantage of its dissemination will contribute to simplifying processes (whether administrative, legal, etc) and reducing associated costs, also contributing to streamlining the relationship between citizens and companies. In this way, it is expected to contribute to the proper functioning of different sectors (information services; governments; large multinationals; NGOs; etc), in order to reduce translation preparation time without sacrificing quality, allowing:

1. Automate translations of repeated phrases (whether in the text itself or in previous ones);
2. Suggest translations of similar phrases;
3. Allow immediate search in the translation memory;
4. Allows you to create terminology files integrated with the translation;
5. Allow managing a translation memory with external resources;
6. Facilitate the placement of the translation text in the final file;
7. Increase the IT security of the translated text.
